The Apnea Club Genève contacted me to create a logo design in cooperation with a number of selected members. The non-profit association emerged from the “Dauphins Genève” and supports breath hold diving in the French part of Switzerland. The focus lies on the traditional freediving disciplines. This includes static and dynamic in the pool as well as depth training in the lake geneve.
It was important for the club members to visualize lightness, dynamics, fluidity, freedom, movement and serenity. A modern, minimalist design without manneristic details was the goal. The final logo should work when monochrome and printed on swimming caps, swimwear and T-shirts. In addition, price trophies for freediving competitions should also receive an appropriate engraving.
The club decided to go for a design that shows a diver while swimming with a monofin. The figure consists only of lines and seems to be composed of the waves around it. The body becomes movement. The luminous, limon-green color is intended to set the logo apart from dark blue background. The typography is soft, minimalistic, and spacious.
